All Your King Size Hershey are Belong to Us!

Last month I detailed my quest to track down and collect all of the current Hershey family King Size bar wrappers.   Over the course of the following weeks, and trips through half-a-dozen states, I think I’ve picked up all of them.  Today, I’d like to share the wrappers with you.

This isn’t going to be a world-shattering post because these will be wrappers you can likely find by visiting any of own your local stores.  My hope is that seeing them all together will be interesting, and you might be surprised just how many wrappers there currently are, even in this narrow King Size field.

The appeal of wanting to collect all of these is mostly due to their unifying feature, the “King Size” label printed on them which is sort of a sideways chevron (well, for almost all of them).   As I said when I first wrote about these wrappers, there’s just something cool about having the unified design element shared across all of these diverse brands.

I was able to gather 30 different wrappers with the King Size sideways chevron graphic, as well as a few more without.  Once I had them, the challenge was to get the wrappers removed without tearing them.   With different wrappers made of a few different materials it was slow-going, but I managed to get these all removed with minimal damage..   I then placed them on single sheets of paper inside of hardbound books for “flattening”.  After a couple days of flattening, I scanned them and got them all ready for presentation in today’s post.

So today is not a peek into candy history, but a fun look at current candy packaging design.  Let’s get to the wrappers.

The classic Hershey bar is a great place to start, and while back in Nebraska for the holidays I even found a variation on the classic with a promotional printed-on-the-wrapper price.

The Reese’s family is represented well in the King Size, and here’s what I picked up:

I picked up a King Size package for 2012’s Reese’s Christmas Trees, but this one had the King Size design from previous years – no sideways chevron.  This is likely the last new package to feature the outgoing design:

My guess is that this year we’ll see the sideways chevron across all of the holiday-specific packaging, as I found this Valentine’s Reese’s Hearts package just last week:

Now here are the last of the King Sizes I picked up:

That’s all of the Hershey-family King Size wrappers I have with sideways chevron design element.  I quite like them.

I also picked up a pair of Hershey-family King Size packs of Twizzlers.  They don’t have the unifying design element, but I thought I could still include them here today.

Those are all the Hershey Family King Sizes I could find across six weeks and as many states of searching.

I had wondered if there was a Dark Chocolate or White Chocolate Reese’s in the King Size, but after so much searching, I don’t think there is.  Similarly, I don’t think there’s a King Size standard Rolo pack (only the minis).   But even though I’ve not encountered those in King Size, you never know.  Maybe they are out there somewhere.  If you see ’em, pick them up and drop me a line.

And that’s everything for today’s post.   See you next time!
