1977’s Yours Chewly!

Back in the mid-1970’s, the Ward Candy Company, best known at the time for brands like Bit-O-Honey, Goobers and Chunky, put out a lesser known brand of taffy-like candy called Yours Chewly.

There’s not too much editorial to add to these, other than the fact that they don’t appear to have been around more than a handful of years.   Based on the materials used for the packaging and their size, it would appear that these were a taffy-like treat, in the same category as brands like Tangy Taffy.

Packages sported a kid mascot off to the side stating the name of the bar in a large word balloon, which became the logo.   From what I have found thus far, they were offered in three different flavors, though it’s possible there were more.  Here are examples of the three I’ve found:

Ward Candy Company – Yours Chewly – Super Grape – camera offer – 20-cent package – 1977

Ward Candy Company – Yours Chewly – Super Chocolate – personalized pencils offer – 20-cent package – 1977

Ward Candy Company – Yours Chewly – Super Cherry – personalized pencils offer – 20-cent package – 1977

It’s always fun to find items like this that have nearly disappeared from the pop culture history books, and write up a chapter on them.   I hope you enjoyed the look at these neat 1970’s treats.

And that’s everything I have to share today on Ward’s Yours Chewly.

See you next time!
