A Fun One For Friday – Fleer’s Big Pucker!

I’ve got the day off today, and it’s raining out.  So, I’m going to be devoting some time into candy research as well as collection-maintenance and scanning.

With that in mind, today’s post will be a brief one, but it will also be another fun CollectingCandy.com internet exclusive:  Fleer’s Big Pucker.

This one comes from the wonderful L.M. Kallok Collection.  The Kallok Collection goes as far back as 1975, and this one is likely from before 1978 since it has no UPC code.   [Not all packaging implemented UPC’s at the same time, but it seems that 1977 was a year that a lot of packaging came on-board with it.]

Once again, you can’t see this anywhere else on the internet – it’s a CollectingCandy.com exclusive!  And here it is:

Fleer – Big Pucker – candy package – mid-1970’s

The art style used for this one is similar to some of the other Fleer packaging of the time.  Eventually, I’d love to figure out who the artist was on these.

And that’s it for today’s short-but-fun entry.

See you next time!

    FINALLY! I loved these!!
I used to get these in a tiny town in Iowa when I was a kid – visiting my grandparents.
No one (except my brother) remembers these. We used to get them for $.10/ea and my grandparents would buy my brother and I each 5 of them to take back to Colorado. They were basically a big pink Sweet-tart that had the same face embossed on the candy that was on the package. Thanks Jason for sharing! 🙂

These were one of my all-time favorites, so hard to find. There was one campground we went to as kids that had these. So great. We usually bought the rest of the box when we went there and sugared up for the weekend. I wish these were still made, some of those retro-candy shops need to carry this item for sure.

    Also the Marathon bar!

    • Michelle Williams says:

      Hi Lisa!
They don’t make the Marathon bar but there is one out there that comes close. Cadbury makes it and it’s called the “curlywurly”. It’s the braided caramel covered in chocolate – although I remember the Marathon bar’s caramel being much softer. I found some in a mall candy shop (although I can’t recall now where as I was traveling for work when I found it).
